That's not coincidence, it's reality that all gods were created out of mythology no matter which culture one wishes to study. Buddha is not a god, but buddhists today treat buddha as a god, and pray to him. There's nobody to hear their prayers - except in their own imagination - and the congregation that hears those prayers.
