Yahoo, to my knowledge, has not yet grouped the teams/countries into tiers. I keep looking for that to happen.

Promotions and demotions for 2012.

Russia Men and Russia Women will fuse, and Russia will be a Group A option.

Great Britain, promoted to Group A.

Rumania, demoted to Group C

Belarus, promoted to Group B
Canada, promoted to Group B

Austria, demoted to Group D
Greece, demoted to Group D
Iran, demoted to Group D
Indonesia, demoted to Group D
South Africa, demoted to Group D

Georgia, promoted to Group C
Jamaica, promoted to Group C
North Korea, promoted to Group C
New Zealand, promoted to Group C

(Athlete rankings in 2012 will decide the fate of Bulgaria, Sweden, Thailand -demotable to Group D-, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan -promotable to Group C)

The info from that post needs to be integrated with the opening post in this thread to create the opening post for London 2012

I'd do it but I don't know how to determine the results of the part in brackets.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree in expecting Yahoo to provide us with country/team groupings. I know nothing about the Olympics - as like most players here.
I thought I would see something like this:
GROUP A (Choose no more than 2):
-American Men
-American Women
-Canada
-etc, etc
GROUP B (Choose no more than 5):
-Australia
-Belgium
-etc, etc
GROUP C (Choose no more than X):
-etc, etc
GROUP D:
-etc,etc

I think I see how a game could be set up if we can agree on establishing on how to "weight" the GROUPS.

Any suggestions?

I've set up the 2012 thread and I have updated the Groups as I understand them.
