I am only in close contact with a few un-Americans these days ( as opposed to the word foreigners), they are considerably better behaved than I am.
When I ask them why that is so, they tell me they are afraid if they mouth off they will be shot.

Americans do seem a little heavy on the testosterone. I think we are also impatient. We want instant gratification, and if we don't get it we sulk or act out. The fact that some American motorist just tried to run down some bicyclists is a good example. I gave up trying to ride a bike on most US roads, I swear some people aimed for me no matter how close to the shoulder I was. I've also biked around Europe and felt totally safe with motorist going out of their way to give me a safe space. Joe is right about some people not acting out in anger for fear the other guy might be even more angry and might even have a gun taped under his front seat. We've all heard the stories and I think we take them seriously.

Humor wise, I think Americans have one of the best senses of humor in the world. We can laugh at ourselves and our troubles. I think it is our saving grace.

Did you bike around England, GW? I swear the drivers there think they get extra points for hitting pedestrians.

@Ticomaya,
Yes, extensively with no problems. I think they figured out you're a lawyer, and thus fair game in any country.

Sometimes yelling, particularly in women, has other reasons than children.

And it was not in the survey (always PC, even in scientific surveys)..
