Circuit Judge Gael Wood could rule in the next few weeks on whether or not to grant a change of venue in the case of a man accused of murdering a Pacific woman in 2009.
Attorneys for Vernell J. Loggins Jr. are seeking to have his first-degree murder trial moved to another county or judicial circuit. Loggins is charged with one count each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the murder and mutilation of Stephanie Fields, Pacific.
"The murder in the first degree was outrageously or wantonly vile, horrible or inhuman in that it involved torture or depravity of mind . . .

A Wilmington man wanted for a January shooting and suspected in a 2009 slaying killed himself Friday after U.S. marshals tracked him to a hotel in Florida. Wilmington police named Dwayne Timothy Moore, 25, as a suspect after his girlfriend, Kayla Leann Moore, was shot and her car stolen early Tuesday. Police issued an arrest warrant charging him with attempted murder.
Moore had also been a suspect in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Dawkins in Pender County on Dec. 27, 2009. He was never charged in the death.
Moore was an absconder from probation and had amassed nearly 75 convictions since 2003...........

There was a horrible murder that recently occurred in Bethesda. Two women worked in Lululemon Athletica on Bethesda Row.
Two masked burglars strucked a store.
The White woman was beaten, raped and murdered. The Black woman was beaten, raped, tied up and found alive the next day.

(Cleveland) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a white male 49 years age....
Upon arrival patrolmen found one victim with a gunshot wound to the back. EMS was already on scene and transported the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.....
...two black males were observed on foot in the area and gunfire was heard.

Martha DeFoe and her family have to say good-bye today to 26-year-old Wendy Bond, They will sit in an Athens funeral home — numb and heartbroken — while family and friends try to console them.
Meanwhile, accused killer Lamar Anderson, 45, will sit in his Limestone County Jail cell, where bail is set at $270,000. He had been charged in the past with beating Wendy and he was legally barred from seeing her. At the time of her death, Wendy was trying to take the small, slow steps to freeing herself.
Her body was found Sunday inside the abandoned Trinity school in Athens.........

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The trial of James Richardson will pick back up Monday morning at 9:00.
On Friday the first day of testimony got under way.
Darrin Kennedy took the stand. He’s the man who prosecutors say Richardson picked a fight with at The Other Place nightclub. Both men were thrown out.
Prosecutors say Richardson then went to a friend's car, pulled out a gun and drove back to the club and shot five times. Landon Blackley and Andrew Kirby were killed.

Randleman is charged in the death of Officer Andy Dunn, 30, who was shot and killed Saturday around 3 a.m.
Investigators say Randleman was riding a bicycle near Hayes Road in Sandusky when he was stopped by Officer Dunn.
Police say an exchange of gunfire then took place and Dunn received multiple gunshot wounds. Dunn was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky where he was pronounced dead at 4:33 a.m.

Randleman has a criminal record in Sandusky which includes a charge of aggravated murder in 1990. Randleman was acquitted of that charge and convicted of carrying a concealed weapon. In 1998 he was convicted of drug trafficking................

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A trial over four years in the making got underway Monday morning, and the victim's family is glad this day has finally arrived.
Tracy Young is on trial for murder. He is charged in an attempted robbery in 2006, that left Aaron Arnold dead. One man (Sanchez Brumfield) has already been convicted and given a death sentence in what has become known as the Olive Garden case
Late in the evening of September 8, 2006 two people approached Aaron Arnold and another Olive Garden worker.
When it was over, Aaron Arnold was dead at the scene.

CARSON CITY -- A former police officer's death sentence for murdering an elementary school teacher in Reno and a casino worker in Sparks was upheld Wednesday by the Nevada Supreme Court.
The high court ruled against David Middleton, a one-time Miami police officer who claimed his constitutional due process rights were violated in his 1997 trial for the murders of Sun Valley teacher Katherine Powell and Circus Circus Reno employee Thelma Amparo Davila..........
Powell, 45, disappeared from her Reno home in February 1995. Her bound and wrapped body was found about a week later by a transient rummaging through a trash bin near Virginia Lake. Davila was 42 when she disappeared from her Sparks apartment in August 1994. Her body, wrapped in plastic and bound with robe, was found near Verdi in April 1995

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Two people are behind bars after they admitted to robbing a woman in a violent attack.
The crime happened in September 2010.
Mary Lou Scofield was in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree on College Road. She had her purse in her cart next to her.
Assistant District Attorney Christa Hardie says James Boney and Michelle Webb spotted Scofield, who was parked in the handicapped space, and decided to rob her.........

The jury in Middlesex County determined Michael Ross II, 25, gunned down Alesky Bautin, 26, of Avenel, and Sergey Barbashov, 21, of Edison, on Oct. 30, 2003 in what prosecutors say was a case of mistaken identity........

LAKELAND - Lakeland police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing death of a woman last August.
Officer arrested 47-year-old Tony Renard McNeal for the murder of 43-year-old Arlene Arocho.
According to Lakeland police detectives, Arocho was found dead in her apartment on August 15 of last year.
The medical examiner said Arocho died of a stab wound.
Investigators said McNeal was Arocho's live-in boyfriend.
McNeal has been charged with manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

ATLANTIC CITY — A trucker serving a life sentence in Ohio for killing six women has waived extradition to face charges of killing a woman in New Jersey in 1987.
Dellmus Colvin used to live in Atlantic City. The 51-year-old was initially charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence after Donna White's death was first ruled acute cocaine intoxication. The 27-year-old was found dead in a vacant lot in 1987.
The Press of Atlantic City reports New Jersey authorities found Colvin was being investigated for killings in Toledo, Ohio after they began reviewing old cases last year.
Colvin admitted in Ohio that he strangled six women who were prostitutes.

HOMEWOOD, AL (WBRC) - A bond hearing will be held Monday for a man accused of murdering Homewood mother Nadia Kersh.
27-year-old Joacquas Haywood was arrested in May and charged with Kersh's death.
Police say cell phone records and fingerprints tie Haywood to the case, but Kersh's body has never been found......

A Myrtle Beach man pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection with a deadly shooting during the Memorial Day Weekend Bike Fest almost three years ago.
Demario Stukes, 20, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of murder. He was originally charged with murder.
In November 2009, Keion Griffin was found guilty of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
He killed Coastal Carolina University student Corey Brooks outside a home in Myrtle Beach in 2008.
