Who said that? ALL music?? Please. His influence on the classic composers who came after him, including his sons (all of whom were also composers) is immense and in that sense he might be considered the father of CLASSICAL music (not ALL). The compositions written prior to the time of J.S. Bach are more properly defined as 'baroque' rather than 'classical.' In that sense he might be considered the father of classical music.

Which Back are you referring to? There are dozens from that musical dynastic family. Okay, maybe not dozens... that's hyperbole for the exclamation effect.

Maybe you misread or miswrote the question?
Why was Bach considered the father of all music??!

Here is a brief sampling in timeline form of music several millenia prior to the Bach dynasty:

I like this musician's take on Bach:

Quote:
While Bach's fame as an organist was great during his lifetime, he was not particularly well-known as a composer. His adherence to Baroque forms and contrapuntal style was considered "old-fashioned" by his contemporaries, especially late in his career when the musical fashion tended towards Rococo and later Classical styles.

A revival of interest and performances of his music began early in the 19th century, and he is now widely considered to be one of the greatest composers in the Western tradition.
