Thank you, Francis.
Problem is, my 'puter won't let me access that account. I go to 'gmail' and my machine automatically opens my pre-existing account. Have no idea how to get around that.

Sheesh. I be dubble-dammed.

(And Francis, sneaky SOB that he is, made sure the Gravatar site was set for French, not English. But CJ will be happy to learn that both my e-mail nom and code word are in German. Smile)

Haha Andy, good code words are always in German!

I am glad you finally have your avatar and we can see you.

OK, folks, you're all wonderful.

Now, just to show you how totally computer illiterate I am, let me present you with one more problem. I suppose I should start a new thread on the subject but -- what the hell -- this perfectly good thread is already here.

Here's the thing. I have a great little three way HP Photosmart C4480 combination printer-scanner-copyer. I have finally figured out how to scan a picture and load it into a file on my 'puter (download? upload?). But that's it. Can't for the life of me figure out how you then transfer this same picture from computer to another site, e.g. A2K, Facebook etc. No idea at all. I've tried everything. Copy & paste. Nada. Right-click to get the properties? Gahrnicht. Follow directions? What directions?

Can anyone help?

Step one: Navigate your browser to this site ...

http://www.imageshack.us/

Step two: Where it says "upload", you want to click on the "Browse" button.

Step three: Locate the scanned photo you saved on your computer.

Step four: Click "Start Upload" (You could get fancy and "resize" the photo at this point, but let's not go crazy just yet.)

Step five: When it's finished uploading, you should see a thumbnail image of your pic. What I do is unclick the box under the pic so it does NOT "include details".

Step six: Select and "copy" the text in the "Hotlink for forums (1)" box.

Step seven: "Paste" that text directly in an A2K thread.

Voila.

Thank you very kindly, indeed, Tico. It's about 11 p.m. here in Hawaii right this minute and I'm too tired to try it tonight. Will try to follow your excellent advice tomorrow. Thanx again.
