I think you need a scanner with a backlight. I used to have one, it had a light on the lid where you could fit a slide and it would project it onto the scanner.

But I don't know of any particular ones to recommend, if you used a more descriptive title you might be able to draw in folks who do (I thought this was the same topic as your other eponymous thread about crosswords).
