my inner cv boot ripped and alot of the fluid leaked, shortly after a loud snap and my car slowed to a stop. i planned on fixing the leak, but do i have a bigger issue now? Can i still just fix the leak, refill it will some new fluid and it will work again?

Information such as the type of vehical would be handy, however i suggest that if Yoiu dont already know what to do It would be best to find a mechanic.

Glad to hear it. Otherwise, I would have been really worried about where it was, and what kind of fluid was leaking. Still curious about the fluid, but I think I'm going to have to keep wondering.

a stab from the dark...

"my inner cv boot ripped and alot of the fluid leaked, shortly after a loud snap and my car slowed to a stop"

it was an inner joint with trouble. sounds like it let go and the driveshaft came apart at the joint.

this leaves only a stub axle held in place by a spring clip into the transaxle.

my guess is the energy of the drive axle coming apart let the stub free itself from the transaxle and it spewed.

if the fluid was red, this would prolly be the case.

either way, at the very least he is gonna need a replacement drive axle, and an output shaft seal would be a good bet as well.

(self-repair still under $100)
