Georgian refugees despond
Hello. I am one of those unfortunate people who found themselves at the border of Poland trying to get awarded the status of refugees in that country...
We’ve heard so often that Poland is a country friendly to the Georgian people but we can see now that is not so. Poland does not seem to welcome us at all! I will say even more, it looks like Polish border guards try to make us give up the intention of having Polish refugee status. We really are in a very difficult situation. Polish border guards treat us like we were some human drift-wood, piece of crap! We receive insults from them and they brusque us terribly! There even were unbelievable cases of extortion. They came up to us and offered to “receive the status faster”. We refused to pay and then they said that none of us would pass the border unless we pay! We don’t have much money but still there were some among us who gave up and paid being in despair. Polish border guards took the money but this didn’t help any of us get the refugee status! They just cheated on us! And we can’t even report on them! Time moves on and with every next day less money is left. We are hung-up. We feel hopeless! We’ve got nowhere to go back because we have sold out all our possessions in Georgia and we are not allowed to pass the border. And also cannot stay in Belarus for ever and we cannot get a job here because every job requires having citizenship of Belarus. So it turns out that we got simply let down by Poland. This is so desperate!
