damn cats

as some of you know I have Dante cat, Sally dog and Fred the parrot. over a period of 4 years I have adopted Garage cat who comes around for breakfast and in the winter sleeps in her carpeted box in the garage, she was semi-feral but now allows me to pet/touch her and I have grown to like her very much. Yesterday I found a young kitten in the garage who I guess was abandoned in our neighborhood as I've never seen him/her before. He/she seems quite tame and sits in my lap wanting to be petted and Garage cat hisses a bit but actually doesn't seem to mind. I can't stand to see any animal go hungry so new kitten gets fed and has not so much as moved such as to venture outside.
Do I call cat rescue? or am I doomed to another mouth to feed?

I wouldn't call anyone unless I was absolutely positive that the kitten would go to a "no kill" shelter. I'm sure you can carpet another box and the poor little thing doesn't eat much.

My vote: You have another mouth to feed.

I like to think we can keep as many as 3 cats and 3 dogs (all strays) without being "hoarders" on our 2.5-acre property.

You're not even approaching the limit!

And to echo others: Photos, please?

The title of the thread says it all.

Make sure that any cat you touch is spayed/neutered. Do not put out food for random animals to feed on. We'll have to sic patiodog on you otherwise.

As didn't we all know that you'll keep this one too!
Garage cat you can name "Fiat" after the red car you have in the garage
and the new one you can name "Isetta".

My cat's name was "Mooch" because that's all he ever did. I originally called him "Smarty" till I found out he wasn't.

he would not have let you in on it, even if that were the case.

I suspect you already know the answer to that.

Congrats on the new addition to your family.

You've already given her a name.

Abandoned Cat.

Case closed.

Laughing Laughing I second the sentiment.

These little guys have a way of burrowing into your heart.

Nothing inspires guilt more than a Jewish cat.

Aw, you ol softy! Smile

If both your outdoor cats are going to remain outdoor cats ... then all they need is to be neutered (so's you don't end up with 5o outdoor cats!) & their annual shots. Then they'll safely & happily continue to provide you with years of pleasure & lots of affection. Worse things could happen, ya know. Very Happy

years ago i took in a stray (got it neutered, all its shots, etc.) and when i relaized i couldn't keep it i advertised in the paper. i got a call from an adoption agency who happily took the handsome fella.

the agency called me to let me know once they placed him in a home.

anyway, i'd look up adoption agencies in your area-- there are plenty of people like you out there who don't want to see the little friends suffer and would take him/her in.
