Sauce for vegetable served with satay

I love the little cucumber and onion dish served with satay.

I want to make some of this yummy stuff but I can't seem to come up with the sauce that the vegetables are soaked in.

My best guess has been rice vinegar with a jolt of sugar but it still wasn't quite right.

Does anyone know what this sauce is called or how to make it?

Many thanks!

That sounds delicious but I don't think it's the same sauce I'm working towards. The sauce I want is clear - a bit sweet, a great counterpoint to the spicy chicken.

That sauce is made with chili sauce which I think would make it reddish and kind of spicy on it's own, which would probably be great with cucumber.
