When Age Becomes a Factor

I am 44 years old. I graduated from college over 15 years ago. Since graduation, I have not been able to land a job related to my field of study. Sociology is one of those majors that demands at least an M.A. to find success. However, I have no desire to seek an M.A. in this field or any other field related to social work. My passion is teaching math. I would love to major in math but have no money for college. I don't trust bank loans. Of course, the pell and tab awards paid for my first degree many years ago. What can I do? I am 6 years away from 50 and still have not been able to find what it is I was put on this earth to do. Am I all washed up? What would you do in my place?

Have you thought about getting a job at a college , as a staff member, where you can get tuition benefits and take courses toward a degree?
