you know, I found that name during my search, but didn't mention it because I've never actually heard of a female named Providence.

Not nowadays so much, but it's one of those puritanical names that have to do with virtues; names like, Constance, Prudence, Patience, Amity, Honor along with Faith, Hope, Charity, Grace and Joy.
It's one of the weird things I got into studying when I was naming my kids.

There are ten providences in Canada.
