What did they feel like before you started to cook them?

That's what happens to potatoes if you have home grown them, it happened to mine aswell. but they still taste nice (:

You over cooked them. Homegrown varieties do not need as much cooking time as most commercial varieties. Try again and keep an eye on the spuds - stick a fork in them at half the time you cooked them last time and you will probably find they are soft.
