@CalamityJane,
I managed about two photos of that before clicking off. I'm pretty useless at handling that sort of thing since my last dog.

lovely thing to do, all the same.

@Lordyaswas,
I know how you feel, Spanky. I kind of did a similar thing with our last dog though. I had a veterinarian come to the house and do the deed there. Our Max had a huge tumor as well and there was just no way around it, but at least he was at home with us and we had plenty of time to say our good byes and spent the last moments with him, loving him. It's a terrible thing to go through, but we owe it to them. I was heartbroken!

Then Lilly came along (avatar)......we dog lovers are always suckers!

Great Dane confusion - catching two balls at once is a bit too much with those long legs!

@hingehead,
I've seen many stories of dogs adopting orphaned animals. This is the first time it's a chimp. Tres interesting possibilities as the chimp ages. I know of at least one chimp that has a dog for a pet.

Bella's new adventure
A woman in our neighborhood makes her living as a bit-part actress and extra in movies and television. Last night, she came down the street to tell us she had a casting call for a woman with a dog. So, this morning, i dressed Bella up in her pink hoodie and denim skirt (it's a chilly day), and when the lady came by, i turned Bella over to her, with a handbag which The Girl had made up with small dog necessaries.

Maybe now Bella will become a real rock star.

Anyone here with a long memory may remember my previous greyhound (Guinness), and various photos of her and her best friend Dex, the retriever.

Dex.....

A later edited, better one of Dex.....

Well, Dex outlived Guinea, and went on to become the best friend and life mentor for my present Greyhound (Darcy), but unfortunately passed away at the age of 17, back in November last year.

Today I have received an email from my mate to tell me that they have finally got over the loss of Dex, and have decided to bring puppy chaos to their lives once more.
They phoned the same breeder where Dex came from, just on the off chance that they are still breeding dogs, and lo and behold, their own family retriever has just had its first litter, and what's more, they are a bloodline relation to Dex, albeit about half a dozen generations later.

They have first choice of a pup, and have been to see them today.

It will be several weeks before they can bring one home, and several more before he is all protected and ready to venture out into the woods, but I'm sure I will be providing many progress reports with photos as the adventures unfold.

They have chosen the one on the left, a male.

Name to follow....,

This picture reminds me of a bloke I knew in the 70's. He used to sit in the corner of the Public Bar in The Railway Inn, and play you a tune on his mouth organ when you bought him a drink.
He was an ex-miner and a champion bantamweight boxer in his time.

That expression is him to a tee.
