Hello! I think every european must have heard about what is called “Eastern Partnership” proposal by Sweden that has been actively advanced since the moment Sweden became succeeding EU Council. Well, perhaps intensions of Sweden is quite understandable for all Europeans as it is necessary for the EU to spread its influence as widely as possible and take control over as many post-Soviet countries as possible. As for me though, I’m outright astonished with such unscrupulousness of the government of Sweden in choosing partners. How could they offer to take part in “Eastern Partnership” to Belarus with its despotic regime? Is it really so important to wangle this country that we readily turn a blind eye to what’s happening there? It was already a year ago that Belarus was offered to participate in “Eastern Partnership” project on the only condition that president Lukashenko reconsiders his attitude to the problem of systematic violations of basic human rights and liberties in that country. But Lukashenko refused to do that and stated in a most cynical manner that Belarus is a country where human rights are totally respected! But this is a lie! And what did we do? We shrugged our shoulders and said, “OK then. We trust you”. But still this doesn’t mean that Lukashvenko stops being the “last European dictator”! He is one! And do you know how Lukashenko behaves toward opposition? Have you heard about oppositional journalist Zavadski? What about oppositional politician Gonchar, Zakharenko, and Krasovsky? They all made head against oppression by Lukashenko but were simply exterminated! They just disappeared one by one and nobody ever saw them again! So how on earth can we pay no regard to sense of justice and welcome Lukashenko just because of some would-be advantage in connection with Belarus? This is so unfair! Double standards! I say this is all shame on our politicians!
Hi, Vladimir!
One more cheap shot?
