Does anyone know if health insurance will cover Hospice care ?

You have to look at the individual insurance policy and see what it covers. Some do, some don't. Even if a policy says they will pay for hospice, there are often many restrictions and you have to read the "small print".

Medicare seems to offer some help, but the brief passage in "Medicare & You" isn't terribly explicit.

Medicare has some provisions, but we would have to assume Jodie34's patient is of an age that they qualify. Even then it might not cover everything and there are restrictions. Medicaid also has some help, but the sick person can't have two nickels to rub together to qualify. It also has a lot of strings attached about where a person can go and for how long. If there is a spouse involved, the spouse would also have to be broke for the person to qualify. At least that's how it is in my state.
