Yaya is quite adept at reading, but her writing is currently what I would describe as "pure phonics". She writes names exactly how she sounds them out.

Let's see how well you can read from this list of patients she wrote out today for her doctor's office. (These are the names of some of her and Keetah's stuffed animals.)

BLOOFLAWR
PLRPLFLAWR
BLACFLAWR
DELMASHINE
PIGWIN
FLIIGMAM
HRTBAER
ELMO
ABECDABE
CIDARLA

Awww....

I miss that stage! Well it's not like sozlet's completely over it, her spelling is spotty (she'll do long complicated words perfectly and then mess up simple ones).

BLOOFLAWR = blueflower
PLRPLFLAWR = purpleflower
BLACFLAWR = blackflower
DELMASHINE = dalmation
PIGWIN = penguin
FLIIGMAM = ?
HRTBAER = heartbear
ELMO = no translation needed!
ABECDABE = ?
CIDARLA = Cinderella

That's close. If you research Sesame Street characters, I'm sure you'll get it.

Oh, Abby Cadabby! She's past our time, barely. (Introduced in 2006.)

The last one is probably a bit unfair. "Flying M&M"
