Japan’s Parliament has unanimously adopted a bill to emphasize the country’s sovereignty over 4 Russian-administered islands of Hokkaido (Kunashiri, Etorofu, Shikotan and the Habomai islet group), calling them an “integral part of Japan”! I doubt Japanese authorities do not realize that as a result of their latest inappropriate and unacceptable move the scheduled talks over a peace treaty between Russia and Japan will be stalled, and only Japan will be fully responsible for impossibility to solve own territorial problems in accordance with existing international law. I remain you that the dispute round these islands prevented Japan and Russia from signing a bilateral peace treaty since the end of World War II. Thus, both countries are technically at war now.
But it doesn’t get Tokyo at all. To all seeming Japan has decided to follow in steps of its teachers from Washington, who have actively invoked the rule of conquer by force now. Well, US practice of open defiance of international resolutions during events in Yugoslavia and Iraq becomes standard in present world and carries out the threat of a new World War!
