I'm shorter than Chai by .5", dammit. I know Francis claims he's 5'2" when he stands on a thick book so maybe I'm taller than him. All I know is, I'm shrimpier than Chai. Damn.

Dangling Participles - got any?

We spent most of our time sitting on the back porch watching the cows playing Scrabble and reading.

Hunting can also be dangerous, as in the case of pygmies hunting elephants armed only with spears.

Anybody here have a good banana bread recipe? I have five very ripe bananas that I need to use.

One singer whose voice I hate is Maria Muldaur. Anybody else hate it?

I claim to be 5'6", but my wife really knows I'm 5' 5 3/4" tall.

It's the principle of rounding up. Wink

Everyone KNOWS that my favourite on-stage location at the dance gala is second-row, far left. That way I'm there, mostly invisible, and first person off-stage.

Friday night. O.k., I'm in the second row, but I'm freakin' dead-centre, and since there are 4 people in the front row, and 5 people in the second row, I'm FREAKING dead-centre.

Why? I'm the tallest person in the second row. That hasn't happened since I was in Grade 4.

Yeah, I've got some principles, but I don't think they dangle.

I can get my hackles up though.

Sounds like cowboy stuff. Cowboys are distinguished from normal people in that they think cows are smart.

I'm 5' - 5 1/2" if I'm not hunching over or picking up spilled dried spaghetti from the floor.

I avoid municiple wrangling.

We spent most of our time sitting on the back porch watching the cows playing Scrabble and reading.
I'm dumb about Scrabble, since the game I grew up with was called Keyword. I've probably played Scrabble a few dozen times. I remember thinking it was easier than Keyword.. but wait, are cows adept at Scrabble?

Hunting can also be dangerous, as in the case of pygmies hunting elephants armed only with spears.
I would be a genuine danger to all living things, including trees and my own feet.

No.

Yes, I agree. I saw her in concert once, early seventies. You had to remind me and now Midnight at the Oasis is re-etching my brain. The more scandalous distaste I have is for Frank Sinatra, as I can't stand his voice and I've long been assured what a consummate stylist he was.

Who is your favourite Impressionist?
Presently, Caillebotte.

It's between Rufino Tamayo and Willem de Kooning. I like a lot of the work of both - these are a couple of samples.

I'll skip that, I've had odd mixed feelings about it (I've mixed feelings about horseracing too).

OK . . . i'm willing to go along with a lot, just to avoid needlessly questioning people who seem honest and sincere . . .

. . . but there ain't no way in Hell i'm gonna believe your cows read and play scrabble . . . uh-uh, no way, forget it.

Banana Nut Bread

1/4lb. butter
3/4c. sugar
3/4c.brown sugar
2 eggs
2 bananas
1 tsp. baking powder
1tsp. baking soda
2c. plain flour
3T. sour cream
1tsp. vanilla
1c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugars; add eggs and beat. Add 2 mashed bananas. Sift flour, soda and baking powder together and add to creamed mixture along with sour cream, vanilla and pecans. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 - 25 min. Recipe makes one average loaf or 3 mini-loaves.

Variations: walnuts rather than pecans. Cut down on sugar, use only brown or only granulated. Omit sour cream (but I wouldn't do that if I were you!)

My moms recipe Mame...and it is so good.
