This reminds me of the Palio, slightly

At Belmont today*, a horse won without the jockey on board. Except not, as that is disqualifying.

In the Palio, the 90 second horse race ridden in Siena's piazza del Campo two times each summer, jockeys sans saddles, it's the horse who wins, one way or another.
