double identity vs dual identity again

The above quotation is a translation about a Chinese-American, a scientist in agricultural science who was born and grew up in China, and then went to the US for further training and work. He wants to do something to help both sides, so he said as above quoted.

The reason that I do not want to use "double identity" is that "double" is associated with combinations like "double dealer" or "double agent", etc.
I am afraid that "double identity" may have that connotation.

Or can we use "double capacity" or "dual capacity" instead?
