What's your definition of a hot guy, George?

I define a hot woman as mid-thirties, slightly plump, with red hair.

The word hot, as used to describe people, has a well defined, pre-existing meaning, and this isn't it. When used with no other clarification, it refers to people who are sexually attractive. It most certainly doesn't refer to the ability to get multiple PhDs.

Unless, of course, you find PhDs sexually attractive.

You can't see a PhD from across the room.

I just think that hotness has traditionally been used as a physical judgment, though I accept that attraction itself is based on a very wide variety of factors.

For example, I once knew a girl, who was cute but mostly average looking - but her voice, holy shit. Instant physical reaction amongst males who heard it, if you get my drift.

She had a hot voice; but I wouldn't have described her as 'hot' overall.

Well, of course you can (unless your eyesight is poor). At a faculty mixer in Boston recently I saw three of them standing together in a group and getting sloshed.

since a2k is a non-visual environment, hot has got to be a factor of brains, self-assured posting and wit.

The grrls that wade into those political alpha male dogfights and escape with nary a bit of poop on their shoes. While I'm a sucker for a graceful collar bone, on A2k brains make a woman 'hot"...you girls know who you are Cool

Surely it means "on heat" like with hot dogs.

Very nice Francis. A bit understated but it makes the point.

Well, in the matters under consideration here, I never gave up the apprenticeship, which, I must say, is quite enjoyable..

I make long distant calls just to hear the instructions from the lady provided by my card, another holy shit voice, melts me on the spot.
