Restarting a Rainsoft Water Treatment System

I have a Rainsoft Water treatment system that hasn't been run in several years. My water turned a rusty brown with black flecks yesterday. I have very hard well water. I'm told the water is brown because of high iron content and I need to restart the Rain Soft system. How do I do that?

Chances are real good that your system is obsolete and DOA.
Have your water tested for total hardness, Iron and Ph.
Post the results here along with the details of your RainSoft system.
We will try to help you out.

Thank you for the reply. You're right - the motor is dead. All rusted and ceased. Going to replace it.

The good news is that the system has been bypassed now and my water is clear.

If you can recommend a new system, I'd appreciate it. I can't afford to buy the top of the line system, but will need something decent.

Check to see if a local plumbing supply company offers North Star softeners.

If that's not available look for a local independant water quality improvement dealer that
assembles softeners with Fleck control valves. I prefer metered, digital Fleck 2510 SE valves.
