What exactly is service oriented architecture??

is it s sort of program like ERP ??

Or is it an approach towards modeling the company structure in such a way that ERP software packages become redundant?? Can SOA ever replace ERP, results wise and cost wise (i.e. be as cheap).

Please let me know.

just one last question for the experts - when SOA is used to combine different ERP modules from different vendors - do they not get into compatibility problems?? What if each ERP module uses a different language/platform?

If you're going to abscond with the word 'architecture' because some business plan uses models and develops a kind of structure (waves hand), get the spelling right.
