For those that do not understand - my title was to attract attention and to make a little light of the situation and have fun with an annoying situation.

If I were to address your suggestion - I explained above why to bring this to the attention of my superior(s) would be a CLM. And it is laughable to request to move. Moving costs money even if I were simply to move to the next spot. It would never be approved. Yes there was a reason why I was put here to be next to my group.

I'd love to, but it is a private company - I do have "stock" in it as a reward, but it is valued so low it cannot be exercised at this time. But good idea otherwise!

I didn't read all the answers, but how about a little chain that you could stretch across the opening of your cube? You could even make a little sign to hang from it that says "caution! Person trying to work" or something to that effect.

I have also seen, at some of the larger book stores, little consruction cones (bright orange street cones) that are small and sit on your desk that have witty little sayings on them like 'no annoying people past this point'.

Maybe a few of those to set at the opening of your space will keep people from bothering you. If not then maybe some one will trip over them and then you can use them as a warning to others.

Actually, that was going to by my suggestion, with an added: "I feel the noise is adversely affecting my work performance."

The headphones is the best for what I can get done. But I kinda like doing something to annoy others - if nothing more than entertaining me.

Anyone with reasonable intelligence would realize that by continuing to state not to call me such and such (especially when it is an endearment and not a swear of some sort) is to just open you up to continued use of the word.

Anyone with a half a brain (which, it appears, excludes you, as being to high of a qualification) can see that i didn't tell anyone not to call me anything. I simply observed what remains true--that i am not your dear.
