well.. it's spring and my back yard mockingbird is terrorizing the dogs and squirrels but for some reason it doesn't get flustered when I wander near its nest...I just found out why...

We all know "It's a sin to irritate a mockingbird".

I didn't know they were that smart.

Ask anyone, well almost anyone, don't mess with crows. They will hunt you down if they have to if you mess with them.

In the Royal Navy, in the days of wooden ships and sail, they called any sailor charged with taking care of the domestic foul (which were usually chickens) "Jemmy Ducks," without regard for what his actually name might be.

Them English is seriously weird . . .

I used to get attacked by a mockingbird every time I went in the back yard. One day I wadded up a white plastic trash bag in my hand before I opened the door. About ten feet into the yard, the bird swooped out of a tree. I threw up my hand and relesed enough of the bag to make it bloom open in a white explosion that terrified the little bird. After that, the yard was once again mine. I never saw another mockingbird in it after that.
