"I seem to have done nothing with pre-meditation, but rather, to have had things done to me. And for all the rest of my life, as I know now, I shall have to shave every morning in order to be ready for no more than this! "
What does "I shall have to shave every morning in order to be ready for no more than this" mean? Does this imply that the author is not happy with such kind of life?

Yes it does mean that he is not happy and is frustrated to be in his situation.
From the context I assume the author is a male and feels that he has to shave his face every morning. A broader context might possibly vitiate that assumption.
