How would you diagram this sentence: The electrician needed tools and insulated wire to restore service.

I wouldn't diagram for you. I studied diagramming in school many years ago and I think it helped me, although I remember being bored.

You will most benefit if you figure this out for yourself from your teacher's instruction, a text book, or from an internet site that explains it - perhaps all of those -

Do you have a text book?

Perhaps you don't have a text book, and I apologize for assuming that.

Many people here do know diagramming, and may post with useful information.

Let's assume you know the basics of sentence diagramming. That is, you know
how to construct a diagram and where to put the various sentence elements.

If this assumption is correct, then you must break down the sentence into its
components and proceed from there.

It looks to me like you have
* a subject and an article modifying it
* a verb
* a compound direct object with a modifier
* an infinitive used as an adverb

Do you agree so far?
