I presently have a few items of spyware and one virus safely in my vault.

There is an option to empty the vault, my question is this, when you empty the vault where does it empty to?

@lovejoy,
You don't say what software it is, but typically this means it will delete the files. With most AV software, the "Vault" or "Quarantine" is like a the Trash/Recycle bin. Instead of things the software finds just being deleted with no way to undo it, they restrict the files so that they can't harm the computer and let you undo the quarantine, attempt to repair the files (sometimes a regular file is infected), or delete them.

So emptying the vault usually means deleting the items the software has quarantined.

@lovejoy,
Robert was correct it more then likely will just delete those files however if you are getting spyware on your computer in the first place I would take that as a wake up call to greatly increase your security.

Number one be sure to keep your systen patchs up to date, number two look into such programs as sandboxie that will add greatly to your internst security and I would also disable autorun.

There is a great weekly podcast on security issues and you can find it by googling Security Now! that will keep you up to date on the subject.
