Nicht so schnell! I like "vet" myself which means to screen someone as well as being a "specialist surgeon" of sorts. Pistols at dawn? ;)

Hi, I still prefer *vet* myself. Both answers, (EEG & VET) make sense.

i dont do crosswords but i'm hard pressed determining a cryptic clue other than veterinarian that also satisfies the straight question and i assume the cryptic eschews acronyms
