One of my favorite melodies. I found an old friend on youtube - he did this song on the hammered dulcimer and I fell in love with it a long time ago. He has two songs on youtube - but not this one yet - although I left a comment on his facebook page and asked him to post this song on youtube, so maybe he will-but you can get the idea of the melody from this version:
Lord Inchiquin

I hope he posts his hammered dulcimer version on youtube or somewhere. I have it on vinyl. He graduated a few years before me, and opened a shop in Black Mountain, North Carolina where he made dulcimers. He made an album in 1981 with Lord Inchiquin played on the hammer dulcimer.
I've loved it ever since then.

I do like it - is Coup de Grass your band? And you play bass, right?

I think Old Howard really highlights your skills- (I don't know how to post it, because it's not youtube - but people should listen to it).

Really? I like the vocals, fiddle and the bass line.
Why don't you like it? It sounds like it'd be fun to play as a bass player.

dunno...it just didn't come out as good as the rest of the album, in my opinion.
Soldier's Joy by the way was a live recording

I think what I like about Old Howard is the harmonies. I really like the vocals - who does lead?
I like the name of your band and the name of the album. I'll work on acquiring a copy.

You'll have your work cut out . There's not many copies out there anymore.
