Please help me with this cultural difference question!

Im having big trouble coming up with ANY reasons to justify it. Am I gonna fail the test?

Well, if you really think about it - the only difference between infanticide of a specific gender and abortion (which is much more widely culturally acceptable, especially in western and/or developed countries, and is usually gender neutral, I assume, although people may employ it if they decide the gender of their child is not the one they wished for) is a time difference - about sixteen weeks -and the fact that less value has been placed on a specific gender.

I personally don't think there's any justification for female infanticide because I think murder is wrong, regardless of age or gender.
But I also have a hard time justifying abortion in this day and age when reliable birth control is so widely, affordably and readily available.

No justification at all.
For the Indians who have to pay a dowdrey to the future bridegroom there is a justification. A dowdrey can be several years´income and if you have a couple of daughters it can ruin you for lifetime.
Dowdreys are more or less forbidden in India but the tradition has not stopped.
If they could stop it there probably would be less abortions regarding gender.
