So sorry about the job. But they sound kinda suspect to me, so maybe it's for the best .. even though it doesn't exactly feel like that now. Chin up!

Ah Reyn, that sucks! You seem to be good at getting jobs, though, so I hope something better comes along soon. (I've seen that same tactic used in retail too so beware -- a soon-to-open store will hire tons of people for set up and lay half off after opening.)

In case you weren't aware, I did retire from the company where I worked for 32 years back in 2006 (at 55). I can hardly believe it's 3 years this month!

My wife and I felt that it may be financially prudent to keep working a while longer, probably to 65. So, since then and now, I've worked part and full time at 2 jobs now, with some gaps in-between. This lastest ex-job ( ) would have been 3.

So, I'll start trolling the newspapers and job sites again, and keep my eyes open for opportunities close by. I have a feeling it may be awhile till the next job, though.
