I do not know him. However, when I did an online search using a search engine/Internet info resource, Wikipedia, I got the following:

"Jose Peralta (born 1972) represents District 39 in the New York State Assembly, which is located in Queens, New York and includes Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights.

First elected to the Assembly at the age of 30, Peralta previously worked as a "community liaison" to Assemblyman Brian McLaughlin.
