I dont get scared of zombies easily. Ghosts and Spirits do scare me actually. But I have some favorites...

Zombie (AKA Zombi 2) (1979) – Italian Extravaganza (full of things one should try in a goriest zombie film)
28 Days\Weeks Later – Intelligent
Shaun of the Dead– Classic
Dawn of the Dead– Ultimate
BrainDead – Cult really.

What about you?

Shaun of the Dead was great Smile But obviously not meant to be completely scary.

The 1985 Re-Animator was pretty good as well, if you like lots of gore.

Dawn of the Dead was always my favorite. It scared me and made me laugh too. Probably the only one that gave me nightmares.

not a huge zombie movie fan, but the book, world war z, is a pretty good read

There is a new movie that caused a lot of talk at the Sundance and Dallas film festivals. It is not really a zombie movie but re-animation of the dead is definitely a factor. The movie is called "Grace". A pregnant woman is in a car accident and her baby is still-born. She "wills" the baby to come to life. I have not seen this movie but the reviews mention escalating gore. Friends of the woman begin to wonder why she has become anemic (something about how the baby stays alive). The baby in the film is a normal looking baby (not deformed or demonic). The movie has been getting good reviews. Has anyone seen it?

That was the other one I was trying to remember. I liked it too.

Night of the Living Dead. The original in black and white. I heard it has cult status on some tv review awhile back.

When "Grace" was shown at the Sundance film festival, two men were taken out of the theater by ambulance. I myself have not seen this film, vinsan, but reportedly it is an emotionally powerful film.

I just saw Zombieland. It's very good, although it's primarily a comedy with a few scares, more than a horror show.
