DEADBEAT TAXI FARE BEATER COMPACTED

Police say a man who dashed past security guards at an upscale
midtown Manhattan apartment building has died in an apparently
accidental plunge into its trash compactor.

Police say the 34-year-old ran into the apartment tower,
a few blocks west of the Empire State Building, shortly before 6 a.m.
Sunday. He took an elevator to its 36th-floor roof level.
Police say he then apparently fell "

On the WABC news last nite,
thay were forthcoming with a little more information, to wit:
he fled from a taxi without paying its fare
before his odyssey on the roof.

I was thinking that my dead friend, Neil, led a very adventurous life,
including some time as a cabdriver.

I don 't know, but I suspect
that he 'd have gotten a kick out of this story; a hearty laff !
