Need help with my bass guitar.

It might be to do with how close the strings are to the fretboard. Did you get a set of alum keys with your bass? See which one fits the bit of metal where the strings join to the body of the bass and try raising it slightly (by turning the key) so the bottom string does is lifted away from the fretboard.

Thanks, i don't think i got any alum keys with my bass but i'll ask at a music shop if they can raise the strings.
