You mean, I'll send you a message and you won't even know? Will I know you didn't get it?

I was hoping that if it ever got to the point of being able to not receive PMs, there'd be some kind of note on my profile saying "this poster does not receive PMs", or you'd get a similar note if you tried to click on the PM button.

Right now, I'm not sure how anyone can tell if someone's read your message or not. In the previous version, it stayed in your outbox until the receiver read it - that was always a useful clue.

seems to work fine between eastern ontario and australia .
i sent a pm to dutchy and he replied right away - don't ask me how i found out about his reply , though (a litle birdie told me) .
i guess you'd have to wait for a reply to know if your pm has arrived .
no reply = BUZZ OFF !

Shocked Cool Wink

will be sending pm to tranna shortly !
hbg

if you want to be sure of arrival "pls ack" might be a suitable mssg .

The email notifications should send one per private message sent. However, they only send if you are logged out of the site, and have the private message email preference set to 'yes' (this is the default).

Does it still seem like you should have received more emails then you did? I can glance at the code and see if I see any potential problems there.

I'd not bother.

I often stay logged in for ages, though I am nowhere near the computer.

So..."I" did not leave the site during the session where I got a heap of messages.

I was only asking because I went to my inbox numerous times, and, with threads, visiting the thread meant that you would be notified of any post after your visit.

I am assuming the PM software uses logged in sessions, not visits to the INbox?

Does that make any sense? Sigh...I don't speak geek, I'm sorry.

Anyhoo, just checked my email, and I got notifications for each PM that was sent while I was not logged into the site.

Doh, that is supposed to be hidden till it's finished. But in short, yes you'll be able to save friends, and it was intended to be integrated into messaging but for the reasons I mentioned in my first post here, messaging was released before it was finished.

We also plan to add an as-you-type search for your friends that works like the tag search, [...]

To send them messages just go to one of your previous message threads with them.

Excellent, thank you! That should be handy.

I inadvertently found out about "going to a previous message to send another to the same person" thing. Works good, too!

I sent RG a PM about it.

I think what I said is that I don't respond to them all, and that for site matters places like the help desk are preferred because I don't mind messages in and of themselves.

In any case, I think this was a bug with time change, putting everyone's posts in what the server thought was the future. Can you guys confirm that you no longer see that message?

yes.

and I tried the help desk, but thought mebbe you would want to investigate while I was locked out.

my sense of humour is slightly dry, btw...

weird I think, I just tried to post on my topic about bladder infections and got a message that I had to wait 552 seconds before posting.
