What is the name of this Cartoon Movie

Im not sure if it is from the late 80's or 90's...It was a televised Cartoon Movie (I think) The 2 main characters were pink & blue dog typed characters. They came from another world. They used a gem/crystal to open up doors to other worlds, and throughout the movie they are trying to get back home to their world. At one point, an elephant from another world comes through when they open the door. I think the main human character is a little boy who's mother is upset with him during the movie. I believe that the girl next door is babysitting the little boy while he has the encounter with the blue & pink creatures. They tear up the house at one point, and work hard to fix it before the boys mom comes home....what is this movies name, we have been trying to figure it out forever! Please help!!
