They do too.
They just use all that centimeter and gram stuff that gets so confusing.

right, because who can understand a metric and decimal system, where all the calculations are based on the messy 1os, 100s, 1000s and such, sheesh!

BMI calculators are NOT kind to people with sprinter thighs.

Well that's just too bad, innit! BMI calculators ar not supposed to be kind to anyone. They're supposed to be mean, to make you feel miserable about yourself, to shock you into action. You want kindness? Get a dog! And don't expect it from a BMI calculator.

I don't like BMI, b/c of the very muscle/fat issue Jespah identified in the initial posting.

I clock in at 24.5, and I'm in the best shape of my life with 8 years of unchanged weight...

So you're fine -- just as the BMI says you are. What's your problem?

I had the same BMI when I was in much, much worse shape, and had a lot more fat and less muscle. But my weight was roughly the same.

It's not a very good measurement in my opinion.

Well, it's not. But it is something that we can easily calculate online and it (sorta) equalizes (sorta) the differences between a woman and a man who are of different heights but both trying to lose weight.

Truthfully, BMI is only a piece of it, you need body fat % as well, which isn't as easy to calculate on a quickie weekly basis.
