It reminds me of the Cirque de Soliel for some reason.

GOOD GRIEF...that thing is 20 minutes long? That's annoying in and of itself. It is hilarious - the opera rap is killing me.

Should we call PETA? How many donkeys/geese/cats do you suppose were tortured during the making of this...er...music?

It is tortuous - but that is what they were trying to do - right? yuck.

So I take it opera is the worlds least favorite vocal timbre.
The woman in the song isn't even singing properly, she putting on a fake opera voice. Although I suppose that was the point.

8 mins in sounds like a bad Berio.

Whats odd is that it seems to be a mix of:
Bad parodies of commercial jingles and bad parodies of 20th century western art music, which are at two completely different ends of the spectrum.

Since most people are, by definition, middle-of-the road, it's not surprising that the least desired music would flirt with the fringes.

I like the bad western-tinged touches, myself. But, then, I think Punk Side Story is one of the best albums ever made...

I agree with you, these guys are amateurs - I own much more annoying stuff than this. Black Angels by the Kronos Quartet for example....

I bet I couldn't get more than one person here to sit through one side of Coltrane Live In Seattle...

What year was it recorded? I read a review of a new Coltrane biography on the weekend, he was pushing the boundaries so hard even his band didn't know what was going on.

1965. The boundaries were decidedly pushed. Free jazz that went on so ceaselessly that the engineer had to change reels while they were still playing.

Truly unlistenable. Almost as bad as Toby Keith.

Ah, that fits with the review. Elvin Jones was asked 'what was Coltrane up to, what they were doing together. Jones shrugged: "Beats the shit outta me"'
