Can you look at this map and say Israel does not systemically appropriate land?

@Walter Hinteler,
French lawmakers have voted to call on the government to recognize Palestine as a state. This is the latest in a series of efforts from European countries to push forward peace efforts between Israel and Palestine.
(It's more or less just a symbolic move that will not immediately affect France's diplomatic stance.)

Abrogating the Oslo Accords by taking unilateral actions does not push peace talks forward. It does just the opposite. It makes peace talks less likely.

If Europe wanted to push peace talks forward, they would try to get the Palestinians to start taking such talks seriously. And that means compromises like no "right to return" and open acceptance of Israel as a Jewish state.

By the way, not really related to your post, but related to the subject of Israel: It looks like Netanyahu's coalition is coming apart and there will be early elections.

@oralloy,
Oslo is dead and you must be the last person on earth still thinking Israel wants to part from the West Bank. No, that era is over. Now is time for some creative thinking, and recognizing and supporting Palestine seems like a reasonable alternative. Can't do much harm anyway... I personally think it's too late for that but it doesn't hurt to keep trying.

Yes. It was killed by Europe and the Palestinians.

Olivier5 wrote:

Israel never wanted to part with the West Bank. It's their ancient homeland.

However, they were willing to part with it for the sake of peace, and they have offered to do so over and over and over again.

IF they are no longer willing to make that offer, it's because the only thing they ever have to show for their trouble is people falsely accusing them of not having done so. That must get pretty tiresome.

That said, I believe that if the Palestinians ever made a credible case that they were finally willing to take the peace process seriously, the Israelis would gladly give it another try.

Thanks to Europe and the Palestinians.

It does do harm. First, it is a unilateral move that abrogates the Oslo Accords.

Second, it gives the Palestinians hope that if they keep refusing to negotiate, someone will force Israel to give them their state for free. The end result is that the Palestinians are even less likely to negotiate.

Since the failure of the peace process is entirely due to the Palestinians' refusal to negotiate, Europe is just ensuring that the peace process will continue to fail.

Unfortunately what Europe is trying to do is make the peace process impossible.

Doubly unfortunately, they are succeeding.

**** those palisavages. The state they deserve is a state of being locked up in cages with the bars welded shut and signs warning people not to feed them.

Like I said, IF the Israelis have decided to stop offering the Palestinians peace based on 1967 borders, it is because the only thing they ever have to show for their trouble is people like you falsely accusing them of not having done so.

No such bad faith.

@gungasnake,
Why do you hate Christians, gunga? The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Armenian Patriarchat of Jerusalem and some more bishops are Palestines including the bishop Evangelical Lutheran Church Bishop of Palestine and Jordan, who is also President of the Lutheran World Federation.
(Actually, among the tenthousand Christian victims in Auschwitz are two, who later became [Catholic] Saints, Maximilian M. Kolbe and Edith Stein.)

Most probably a lot more than you. Actually, the Catholic Party (Zentrum) opposed Hitler. But since I only know the original sources, you might be better educated about that period.

It might be a surprise for you, but according to the ius canonicum the saints must be Christians. (Same is with those, who were benificated - more than a handful of victims of the Hitler period.)
There's a reason why it is called "canonicatio" ...

@Olivier5,
Remember Gunga is a passionate supporter of the Srebrenica massacre. Like the Nazis he's a proud supporter of genocide, it's just his choice of victim that's different. Creatures like Gunga and Oralboy are incapable of positive emotions.

The day is coming right soon when Serbian tanks roll back into Kosovo and the criminal narco-terrorists who NWO types like IzzythePOOP handed that place over to are sent squealing like little pigs back into their native haunts. My guess is that will mess neocon and nwo minds badly enough that they'll never function again.

I wish, but sadly I fear the Serbian government is so devoted to joining the EU that they are just going to let the EU kick them in the balls over and over without even complaining.

However, what NATO did in Kosovo is precedent for what Putin did in Georgia and is doing in Ukraine.
