ASHLAND, Ore.—A new gallery opened in Ashland, Oregon, last week with a fund-raiser featuring a “shoe throw” at a representation of President Bush, the AP reports.

The MAda Shell Gallery, co-owned by city councilor Eric Navickas and Amy Godard, opened on Friday night with an event in which the soles of shoes were slathered in red paint and visitors were invited to hurl the footwear at an eight-foot-high image of Bush.

Each toss cost a dollar; the funds will go toward future exhibitions in the space.
