Pedophiles in the civil rights struggle to have sex with kids

On the Web, Pedophiles Extend Their Reach

Quote:
In a sense, the creation of the pedophiles’ online community was a ripple effect from the success of government efforts to crack down on them.

Washington’s efforts in the late 1970’s to stamp out child pornography by declaring it illegal were enormously effective, closing off traditional outlets for illicit images.

But the Internet soon presented an alternative. In the early 1980’s, through postings on bulletin board systems, pedophiles went online to swap illegal images. From there, they could easily converse with others like themselves, and they found theirs to be a community of diverse backgrounds.

In the conversations observed by The Times, the pedophiles often discussed their personal lives. Their individual jobs were described as being a disc jockey at parties (“a high concentration of gorgeous” children, a man claiming to hold the job said); a pediatric nurse (“lots of looking but no touching”); a piano teacher (“I could tell you stories that would make you ...well... I’ll be good”); an employee at a water theme park (“bathing suits upon bathing suits!!!!!”); and a pediatrician specializing in gynecology (“No need to add anything more, I feel”).

Quote:
The recent conversations among pedophiles that were examined by The Times took place in virtual rooms in Internet Relay Chat, a text-based system allowing for real-time communications; on message boards on Usenet, which has postings by topic; and on Web sites catering to pedophiles.

In this online community, pedophiles view themselves as the vanguard of a nascent movement seeking legalization of child pornography and the loosening of age-of-consent laws. They portray themselves as battling for children’s rights to engage in sex with adults, a fight they liken to the civil rights movement. And while their effort has brought little success, they celebrated online in May when a small group of men in the Netherlands formed a pedophile political party, and they rejoiced again last month when a Dutch court upheld the party’s right to exist.

Oy. A child's right to have sex with grownups? Let me be the first to say, heh, no. That ain't the right they care about. It's the opposite one, the grownup's right to have sex with kids. And that's no right and not even a privilege.

There was a long thread on A2K on this topic. It was sickening that a few members were actually arguing for this sick stuff.

The thread title was in poor taste then and it is in poor taste now.

Oof. I remember that thread. It was scary in that the arguments were presented in such a logical fashion. People were agreeing. Frightening.

Reading the article that Robert posted shows that this is how the game is played -- make it all seem normal and other people start thinking it's normal.

That article gave me shivers. After Mo went to bed last night Mr. B and I got into a pretty heated debate on the question authority aspect of child-raising, so reading this was very timely for me too. Thank you for posting it.

@Robert Gentel,
Yep...they're organising for sure and that silly argument has been around for a long time. We've sure seen enough of it here.

They can now get together way more effectively and mirror and shape each other's justifications into a delusional moral crusade.

@dlowan,
But it is so preverse (& depressing) that that the issue is presented as a "civil rights struggle".
I find that mind boggling.

@msolga,
Well, active paedophiles tend to spend a lot of time justifying and defending, and, like all of us, can become highly convinced by their self-justifications.

I started hearing them when I first started work...and they are kind of startling...

I am now working with someone who also works with adult sex offenders, including lots of men who have sexually abused kids. It is actually fascinating to hear lots about about how they work with the cognitions of these people. They work a lot in groups, and the guys who have been in the group for a while do a lot of the work in challenging the new members.

We've been having some really interesting discussions about the role of porn in all this.

@dlowan,
Interesting & confronting work, I'm sure, Deb.

But to promote pedophilia as a civil rights issue seems (to me, anyway) quite a big stretch.

@msolga,
Your sarcasm meter is broken msolga.

The point of the title is to illustrate the absurdity of it all, and I haven't actually seen it used seriously. What I have seen is a lot of arguments from folks like Hawkeye who try to portray this about minor rights as if it's the minors pining for the pedophiles instead of the reverse.

Put plainly its absurdity is very clear. This isn't about minor rights no matter how they like to rationalize it.

I would love to be a fly on the wall during such discussions. It must truly be fascinating.

And just what should be the age of consent viz a viz pedophile thinking?

A family member was married to a pedophile. We all thought it was appropo when he died of prostate cancer.

@Sglass,
I'm taking the liberty to copy and paste comments that I just posted in another topic. Please excuse me if this is not according to the A2K rules.

My comments really are addressed to all readers of this topic. Perhaps I don't need to say this; but I will, anyway. The impact of sexual abuse in the lives of children is devastating. Their lives as adults are adversely affected. I have seen this personally in the lives of individuals I've known over the years.

My former best friend was married to an incest victim. (Incest truly is a special case of pedophilia.) His now ex-wife was repeatedly raped by her maternal grandfather, starting when she was about five. (Incidentally, the monster had victimized his daughter, my friend's future mother-in-law, when she was a very young girl.) When the young daughter of my friend and his wife reached that age, my friend's wife (the mother of the young girl) started undergoing a process of mental deterioration, experiencing flashbacks of assaults by her grandfather. As I indicated, my friend and his wife eventually got a divorce. The evil of her grandfather (who had passed away by this time) lived on after him, reaching beyond the grave to hurt his great-granddaughter (who, of course, was devasted by her parents' divorce) whom he did not live long enough to see and even me when I lost my best friend, as an indirect result of this tragedy.

Another friend of mine had to be incarcerated in a mental institution when he suffered a nervous breakdown in 1966 (if I remember correctly) at the age of 17. He had been terrorized by friends of drug-dealing "jocks" at his high school, whom he had reported to the police when they tried to get him to take drugs. While he was in the mental institution, not only was he beaten by interns; but also he was raped by a pedophile, a muscular man in his 40s. My friend never received treatment for his abuse, because at the time this crime was committed, it was believed that men never got raped. Today he still has nightmares and suffers from post traumatic stress syndrome. He has never been married. He is a 58-year-old virgin because the sexual assault traumatized him so badly that he was left without any sexual urge at all.

In a fair and logical world, pedophiles would be SHOT without mercy. Just my opinion.

I have never supported adult/child sex, only the changing of the age of consent back to 15 years old. But that said a 15 year old should be able to do what they want with their sexuality.
