The death of a butterfly

Oh look!
Butterfly, butterfly
paper wings
colors of sunset
antennae that probe the air
and feel
the vibrations of time

Go, butterfly, go
continue your weary journey
stop not to sleep
and finally
stop at that flower and grab some nectar

You won't believe this, but I composed that in one sitting. I believe I may be another Robert Frost.

My special affinity with butterflies drew me to it like a moth on a porch light. Did you know we're nearing the time of the great monarch migration along the Pacific Coast in the Monterey area?
