Can I run Windows XP 32-bit on 64-bit hardware?

Odd question: I hate Windows Vista. The computer I have I want to install Windows XP 32-bit on it. It's a 64 bit system. I know it won't have the power that it used to, but I just want to know can a 64-bit processor run Windows XP 32-bit as if it were 32-bit.
