didn't know it had happened until i got home, weird watching a show depicting the break up of the band, and then coming to the realization that the band was now over for good

I doubt that John Lennon was any sort of saint, but I did enjoy his music a lot. Dying at the hands of a deranged person with a gun, with some sort of obsession about him was a real tragedy. No one's life should end like that.

I heard today that a movie about the early life of John Lennon (and Paul McCartney) to be called "Nowhere Boy" is in pre-production. It's due out in 2010. Check imdb for details.
