"We don't want (Blagojevich) to short-circuit the will and the wisdom of the state of Illinois," Rush told FOXNews.com, after holding a press conference in Chicago announcing his petition drive for the governor to name a black candidate.
Are white people not qualified to fill Obama's senate seat? What if the white person is the most qualified?
Aw, com'on. That was one man's opinion. If the governor is smart, he will pick the best person for the job, no matter what the person's race. Rush was a Black Panther. Of course he would say that the job has to be filled by a black. So what?
I hear ya, and I agree. Look, racism was firmly embedded in our society for generations. Now that black people are finally "making it" in society, there is a bit of a backlash, which I suppose, is understandable.
Over time, hopefully, as people become more color blind, remarks like the one that Rush made will seem quaint and anachronistic.
If McCain had won the presidency, I am curious how many would be demanding that his Senate replacement be a Republican simply because McCain is a Republican.
Aw, com'on. That was one man's opinion. If the governor is smart...
I think you've hit upon the primary problem here.
Joefromchicago has a point which needs to be recognized. Only ONE person gets to vote on Obama's replacement and that is the Illinois Governor. The governor's popularity has gone down for various reasons. This governor will simply make a choice based on what is most helpful for himself politically.
Actually, parados, there is speculation that the governor may appoint a Democrat who seeks to oppose him in the next gubernatorial primaries. There are many in his own party that want him replaced.
