1996 dakota 5speed want to replace with 1989 automadic both have 3.9 magnums

that is way more trouble than it is worth...

The computer systems are different generations.

(and those automatics had some serious issues as well)

why would you even want to do this? The body integrity of Dodhes was at a nadir in the mid 90's. So much so that the Cummings Co, didnt want to be dealing with Dodge any longer. Dodge fixed its integrity and rust-out problems only by 2001 and are pretty good now.

The damn 96 would rust out on you.
